Whisk & Paddle

There are not many cafes in the North East- and they are probably really crowded too. Whisk & Paddle is a relatively new addition- a cafe located in Tebing Lane, Punggol, overlooking Punggol Waterway.

Its location probably lends the cafe a really nice serene and peaceful atmosphere. There are some indoor seats, but you can also choose to sit on the outdoor wooden verandah that overlooks the park connector and river. I would personally prefer to chill out on the outdoor area and look to the sky and river as I sip my coffee. It wasn't crowded when I visited on the weekday afternoon, but I can imagine the place getting more rowdy in the evening especially since there is a cluster of F&B outlets around the area and it can be packed with dinner crowds.
Indoor seating area
Sit outdoors- to feel the gentle breeze and admire views of the river!
Parents may also be happy to know that there is an adjacent children play area next to the outdoor seating area for kids to enjoy.
The menu has a comprehensive list of cafe foods including all day breakfast, pizza, pasta and snacks. You probably also want to check out their deli for any baked goods for the day- when I visited during the Christmas season, there were several Christmas specials. Here's what we had:
The Eggs Benedict ($13) is served on WAFFLES here! You get to choose your desired topping (we went with smoked salmon) with perfectly poached eggs in creamy hollandaise sauce. The salad serving was fresh and generous- came with fat, juicy (and visually appealing) cherry tomatoes.

The Chunky Fries ($10.80) lives up to its name- chunky blocks of cut potato fried to crispy perfection. You also get to choose the dip sauce to go with this- I was naturally drawn to the Truffle Mayo sauce which is a must have for its full truffle fragrance.

Also ordered a frothy Flat White ($5.50) that didn't disappoint- full bodied coffee flavour that packs a caffeine kick. For those who want something special- they serve Black Sesame Latte- a hot drink that has a good balance and fragrance of milk and black sesame - something that is not easily achieved! This drink will warm one up in chilly weather.

Service was also not bad- the waitresses were attentive (maybe because it wasn't too crowded) and even drew the blinds down when the evening sun shone directly at our table.

This place may be a little inaccessible unless you drive (there is a nearby carpark) or if you're living nearby. But perhaps that contributes to the serene charm of this cafe, something that will not last long, especially when everyone starts flocking here for their next cafe hopping adventure.
