Kyushu Jangara Ramen @ Harajuku, Tokyo

Just a stone throw away from the bustling Harajuku station, this ramen place whips up the most slurp-ilicious Hakata style ramen. A typical Hakata ramen comes with thin chewy ramen noodles cooked in a tonkotsu (pork bone) broth.

The eatery is rather compact- customers sit around this mini ramen bar as the chefs whip out their orders right before their eyes. There aren't many seats available, so when the restaurant gets full (esp during lunchtime), a queue forms outside the door. This is probably testament to how popular this joint is!

The eatery offers a variety of soup and topping ramen combinations (English menu available!), but being the typical Singaporeans (Everything also WANT!), we ordered their 人気 No. 1 combination. For 1000yen a bowl, you get everything- their popular Kyūshū Jangara ramen stuffed with all available toppings: a block of stewed pork, slices of chashu, boiled egg, mentaiko, wood ear and bamboo shoots.

The ramen here is just so good. The QQ thin ramen noodles just goes so well with the milky, rich full bodied pork bone broth. The ingredients served were also fantastic and definitely complemented the flavourful soup broth.

Writing this post is an absolute torture; I'm actually salivating and getting extreme ramen cravings as I type this out. I need to head back there for my ramen fix. =( The only fault, and it's a small one, is that the tamago (egg) served is full boiled and doesn't have perfect runny yolk that would have made this meal so so perfect.

Thank you Wise Guy (RERG) for bringing me here!
